I would like to pay my respects to Margaret by sharing a few fond memories from childhood and teenage years, notably visits to Sotts Hole. This beautiful home exuded great warmth and happiness, and the Barrett family was always made to feel welcome by Margaret and Jim, who would greet us with their beaming smiles. We children had many adventures in the extensive gardens - be it climbing the treehouse (just like Swiss Family Robinson!) or exploring the orchards, before then enjoying the wonderful meals that Margaret used to make - especially afternoon tea! Marianne and Elizabeth were always so kind to us - especially Elizabeth who allowed us to stay in her ever so trendy teenage bedroom (where I first heard ‘Last Train to London’ by Electric Light Orchestra - something totally new and exciting to my young ears.)
I would like to convey my gratitude to Margaret and Jim through this tribute.
